Save the Econ

Thank you for signing the petition!

The Econlockhatchee River needs our help immediately.

By signing this petition the Orange County Elected Officials will hear our voice and encourage them to vote against a new road going across the Econlockhatchee River which is designated as one of Florida’s outstanding waterways. Your signature will help protect this magnificent public asset which supports many wildlife and plant species unique to the area, promotes passive recreation for all citizens to enjoy and will continue to promote clean water.

Please join us in saving this valuable waterway for future generations.

On June 14, 2016 the Orange County Board of County Commissioners will consider approving 1,999 homes on the Rybolt Ranch property. The developer proposes building an access bridge from McCulloch Road over the Econlockhatchee River to access this development. The road will then reconnect this proposed road back onto Lake Pickett road near 419 which already has a bridge crossing over the river.

Many other alternatives exist that should be considered first. This proposed crossing of the Econlockhatchee would result in a total of 5 crossings within 7 miles.
